Hello, world

This is the first post of what will become a series of notes on Ruby, Rails, and backend engineering.

I’ve spent the last several years working on production Rails systems — optimizing slow endpoints, modernizing legacy codebases, and untangling event-driven workflows. I want to write down what I’ve learned, partly to refine my own thinking and partly because some of it might be useful to others.

A few topics I’m planning to cover:

• Performance patterns in Rails — query tuning, async processing, caching
• Idiomatic Ruby beyond the basics (metaprogramming, blocks, enumerators)
• Notes from real incidents and refactors
